Basketball Training is key if you want to improve your game. You have to train,it just comes with the territory. Many players train, but they do not train to get results. Just going through the motion’s is not going to get you to that next level. The key to training for basketball is to make your training harder than any game, practice, etc.
You have to push yourself to a point where your body taps into another element. Have you ever been working out so hard and you felt like your body was about to give out? Then something happens and your body finds a new source of energy, some how? The human body is amazing and you would be surprised what you can do, if you just break past the barrier of fatigue. I’m not saying train to you pass out, that would be ignorant, but what I’am saying is to push yourself a little further.
Players are made during the off- season, not when the lights are on. If you slack on your training the only thing you are going to get when the lights come on, is exposed! Your basketball training doesn’t have to be boring, challenge yourself try to be better then yesterday or your last sprint or drill. If you do your work in the off-season where there are no coaches, nobody watching it’s just you and your motivation to get better, that’s when you will get better. When those lights do come on, then it’s your time to shine!
Below are some things you can do to make your training harder than the actual games.
- Doing sprints with a Parachute
- Doing all your basketball drills with a Heavy Ball
- Penalize yourself for not making a certain number of shots, by doing extra sprints
- Wear a Weighted Vest
- Play a game with your weak hand
- Do all dribbling drills with two-balls
*Remember you do not need any of these things for basketball training. You can still make your training harder than the game,by the intensity of your training!
